A well-shaped nose plays an important role in giving your face an overall good look. Regardless of how beautiful your eyes look, or how soft and supple your cheeks are, or how red and rosy your lips may be, a de-shaped or blunt nose will hinder your beauty. The nose sits right at the center of your face so you can’t even hide it or cover it up. If you live in the Davie area and want your nose to look better than it does right now, then you may be a prime candidate for rhinoplasty.

WHAT IS RHINOPLASTY?

The surgery performed to reshape the nose is called Rhinoplasty or commonly referred to as a “nose job”. Thanks to Rhinoplasty, patients in the Davie area can now erase the defects in their nose and have a better facial appearance. It can make your nose look larger or smaller, change the angle of your nose in relation to the upper lip, change the tip of the nose, or fix bumps or indentations.

PURPOSE OF RHINOPLASTY

Although the main purpose of Rhinoplasty is to bring your nose into better proportion with the rest of your face, a lot of people in Davie resort to Rhinoplasty to correct structural problems with their nose that cause chronic congestion and breathing problems.

The effects of Rhinoplasty maybe significant or minor depending upon what kind of correction you need. It is important that you and your surgeon agree on the goals of the surgery. Bear in mind that the changes caused by Rhinoplasty are permanent and can only be altered by surgery.

HOW IS RHINOPLASTY PERFORMED?

Rhinoplasty requires the trained hands of a plastic surgeon or otolaryngologist. Plastic surgeons will focus more on the cosmetic aspects to improve the look of your nose. An otolaryngologist or ENT specialist focuses on correcting any breathing issues you may have.

First, the surgeon makes an incision to reach the bones and the cartilage that support the nose. Incisions are made from the inside of the nose or with a small external scar on the tissue between the nostrils called the columella. In the next step, the surgeon removes a portion of the cartilage or the bone and the amount removed depends upon the goal of the surgery. Sometimes, there’s no removal involved and tissue is added to the area. This tissue can be extracted from a different part of the body (often the ear) or a synthetic filler can be used as the tissue.

Once the bone and the cartilage have been rearranged or reshaped, the skin and tissue is re-laid over the new structure of the nose. The structure of a reshaped nose often needs to be supported with an external splint for 7 to 10 days.

AFTER-EFFECTS OF RHINOPLASTY

General anesthesia is used when undergoing Rhinoplasty. Since it’s not the kind of surgery that impairs the body, you can head home to your home in the Davie area right after surgery. The procedure will cause you minimal pain during the recovery process. Cold compresses are normally used for 24 to 48 hours after surgery. You will usually return to your doctor’s office in 48 to 72 hours to remove the packing that protects the incisions inside your nose. Follow up visits often depend on what is done during the operation.
