Injectable fillers and neuromodulators are all the rage in the plastic surgery world because they can make you look younger without going under the knife. Although these procedures are similar and can both be performed during your lunch hour, they do have some differences.
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN INJECTABLE FILLERS AND NEUROMODULATORS?
Neuromodulators relax your muscles while fillers just fill in skin that has lost volume. For example, injecting a neuromodulator, like Botox, can relax the forehead furrows you get from raising your eyebrows. Neuromodulators can also help with crows feet and frown lines. Fillers, on the other hand, are commonly used to fill in cheekbones that have become hollow over the years. They can also be used on your chin, under your eyes, and around your lips.
HOW ARE THEY ADMINISTERED?
Both injectable fillers in Pembroke Pines and neuromodulators are administered through small needles. Your practitioner will sometimes apply a numbing cream to the area beforehand, so you should feel little to no discomfort. The amount of injections you receive will depend on your individual needs. After the procedure is done, your practitioner will place ice on the area to help reduce swelling.
ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?
Just like any other cosmetic procedure, it is possible to experience side effects from fillers and neuromodulators. The most common side effects for both treatments include puffiness, tenderness and redness around the treated area. You can manage these side effects with ice packs and over-the-counter pain medication.
HOW LONG DO THE RESULTS LAST?
The results of neuromodulators last three to four months while injectible fillers in Pembroke Pines last between four and 12 months. The great thing about fillers is that they stimulate collagen production, so you will need less filler over time to maintain the same results.
