Abdominoplasty
Tummy Tuck
Abdominoplasty, also known
as a "tummy tuck," is a surgical procedure
to remove excess skin, fat, and, in some cases,
to tighten the muscles of the abdominal wall.
The procedure can dramatically reduce the appearance
of a protruding abdomen and can be used to remove
scars or stretch marks in the lower third of the
abdomen.
The best candidates for abdominoplasty
are men or women who are in relatively good shape
but are bothered by a fat deposit or loose abdominal
skin that won't respond to diet or exercise. The
surgery is particularly helpful to women who,
through multiple pregnancies, have stretched their
abdominal muscles and skin beyond the point where
it can return to normal. Men and women who have
lost a significant amount of weight through diet
and exercise or surgery are also excellent candidates
for the procedure. The abdominoplasty produces
a dramatic, but natural looking result, that many
patients find extremely satisfying.
At Weston Center for Plastic
Surgery, patients can also consider the following
